Les objectifs de l’équipe Variabilité de l’Océan et de la Glace de mer (VOG) sont de mieux comprendre la dynamique du système couplé océan-glace de mer, sa variabilité actuelle et passée et son impact sur les cycles biogéochimiques. Pour ce faire l’équipe

Les objectifs de l’équipe Variabilité de l’Océan et de la Glace de mer (VOG) sont de mieux comprendre la dynamique du système couplé océan-glace de mer, sa variabilité actuelle et passée et son impact sur les cycles biogéochimiques. Pour ce faire l’équipe développe une synergie entre observations et modélisation pour étudier à la fois les échelles fines des processus de la circulation océanique et les échelles de temps longues dont la connaissance est indispensable pour une meilleure évaluation du rôle de l’océan dans la variabilité climatique et ses impacts. Elle s’intéresse notamment à des problématiques comme l’évolution de la banquise, les changements dans les propriétés des masses d’eau en lien avec leur mode de formation, l’acidification de l’océan, le transport de chaleur océanique en lien avec la circulation méridienne de retournement, les impacts de la dynamique océanique sur la biogéochimie marine. La recherche de l’équipe est largement abordée dans le cadre de problématiques régionales, en lien avec les chantiers Antarctique, Arctique, Atlantique tropical et Méditerranée.
